Stars come out for an incredible afternoon of Starkick

It was an unforgettable afternoon at Mineral Resources Park as Starkick joined forces with Telethon and the West Coast Eagles to deliver a very special all-abilities footy experience made even more magical by the presence of some of the biggest names in Australian sport and television who were in town to kick off this years Telethon weekend.

From footy legends Matthew Richardson, Ben Cousins, Nic Naitanui and Shane Crawford, to The Chase star Brydon Coverdale, the atmosphere was buzzing as they jumped in alongside families, coaches and volunteers to create a day filled with joy, connection and pure footy fun.

Adding to the occasion, an incredible team of BHP volunteers including executives Tim Day and Lisa Farrelly rolled up their sleeves to help run activities and ensure every Starkick player and family felt supported, welcomed and celebrated. Their energy and commitment truly embodied the spirit of doing it for the kids.

Hosted proudly by the West Coast Eagles, this special event bought together a select group of Starkick participants and Telethon champions alongside some of Telethon’s biggest names who gave their everything to ensure every child was supported. The smiles and laughter were endless, high-fives constant, and the message was clear - When community comes together, inclusion isn’t just possible - it’s unstoppable.

A Beautiful Ending to a special day

To close the session, each Starkick participant presented a personalised thank-you card to the volunteers and Telethon stars. These special cards included:

  • a photo of the player,
  • a small handwritten message about their love of footy,
  • and a personal note about what Starkick means to them.

It was a heartfelt moment, one that left more than a few emotional smiles on the faces of our guests. Each volunteer and celebrity took home their card as a memento and reminder of the connection, joy and purpose behind the day.
