Starkick Schools Carnival

The inaugural Starkick Carnival for Education Support Primary schools across Perth was an outstanding success with students and schools uniting and most importantly having fun whilst playing footy.

The Carnival seeks to celebrates sportsmanship, teamwork, fair play and inclusion through sport and in the process to deliver on WA Football’s Starkick motto “If you want to play, we will find a way”

Over 120 students engaged in a series of non-contact, participation focused football games against other Education Support Primary Schools from across Perth and the Peel region. School staff were glowing in their feedback from the day;

"Thank you for inviting our students to participate, they had a wonderful day! We would love to join this event again next year, thanks again for a great day." Amy,  Beldon ESC

and, "What a wonderful event for our students. Thanks so much for a well organised carnival. I loved the understanding and acceptance that all kids would participate as they were able to"  Louise, Joondalup ESC.

Throughout the day and over a series of Round Robin games teams and schools were rated against a set of values that underpin the carnival and were used to award the Perpetual Starkick Shield. These values are based on;

Teamwork
Respect
Care & Safety
and Generosity

Suzie Andrews representing the The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries went on to say, "Such a wonderful event. The strength in the partnerships was evident, and most importantly a fabulous opportunity for the students to participate."

Congratulations to all the Schools involved including Kalamunda Primary Education Support Centre who were the winners if the Inaugural Starkick Values Shield for 2022.

The Starkick Carnival was a partnership between WAFC Starkick program, The Fremantle Football Clubs Purple Hands Foundation and SEDA Sports, Business and Leadership program
