Starkick kids warm hearts at Optus Stadium
Round 17 of AFL action saw Fremantle take on Carlton, however the AFL players weren't the only ones getting a kick that day. In a heartwarming spectacle, 48 Starkick players' from 18 centers across Western Australia, including as far as Albany, graced Optus Stadium to strut their football skills in front of 50000 fans during the half time break.
This opportunity was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of these young players, and FOX Footy was there to capture all the joy and excitement.
The reach of this event was truly impressive with children travelling from as far as Albany, nearly 450 kilometers from Perth to participate. This certainly demonstrated the dedication of the Starkick community and the incredible impact this program has on the lives of these children and their families.
The Starkick program not only promotes inclusivity but it also fosters a strong sense of community among its participants and their families. It provides a safe and supportive environment for children with disabilities to develop their skills, build friendships, and gain confidence whilst participating in football.
The half time takeover was a testament to the power sport has, to bring people and communities together and in the process create unforgettable memories.
