Nominated in the “Excellence in Community Partnerships” category for the positive outcomes achieved through the partnership between program Starkick founders, the Coolbinia Bombers Junior Football Club and the Fremantle Dockers Foundation. Representatives attended a glamourous ceremony held in the Great Hall of Parliament House, Canberra on the 7th of November 2016.
The awards, which run across 8 categories, recognise best practice by contributions from individuals, organisations and initiatives made to improve the lives of people with disability.
The Starkick program was 1 of 4 Finalists in its category, with nominations received from states and territories throughout Australia.
Although Starkick didn’t take out the overall prize on this occasion, it was an enormous recognition for how Starkick and football are leading the way in improving the lives of people with a disability.
Member for Perth, the Hon. Tim Hammond MP, was so impressed he took to the Floor of the House of Representatives to give this speech to the Parliament.
